Stellar Blade Shift Up Slips Up with DLC Update

Stellar Blade's highly anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC update, while exciting, unfortunately introduced some game-breaking bugs. However, developer Shift Up assures players a hotfix is underway. Let's dive into the details.

Stellar Blade Update: Game-Breaking Bugs and the Hotfix

A Hotfix is on the Way

Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009, delivering the much-requested Photo Mode and the NieR: Automata collaboration DLC, also brought some unwelcome surprises in the form of game-breaking bugs. Players have reported being softlocked during a specific main quest in an earlier dungeon, unable to progress. Others experienced crashes when using the Photo Mode's selfie camera, and issues with new cosmetic items not rendering correctly on Eve.

Shift Up is actively working on a hotfix to address these problems. They advise against forcing quest progression; patiently awaiting the hotfix is recommended to prevent potential permanent softlocks.

Patch 1.009 brings a wealth of content, most notably the NieR: Automata collaboration! As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, the developers highlight the significant inspiration NieR: Automata provided, describing the collaboration between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro as a success built on mutual respect and creativity. Eleven exclusive collaboration items await players who locate Emil, the NieR character who's set up shop in Stellar Blade's world.

The highly anticipated Photo Mode finally arrives, allowing players to capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. New photo challenge requests further enhance this feature.

Complementing the Photo Mode are four new outfits for Eve and a new accessory (unlocked after completing a specific ending) that alters the appearance of Tachy Mode. A "No Ponytail" option has also been added to the settings, providing increased customization. Additional improvements include lip-sync support for six more languages, improved projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill, and various smaller bug fixes for a smoother overall experience.
