The boys are back in town—and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced its return for Season 27, and it looks like our favorite Colorado crew is facing reality—sort of. And by facing it, we mean barely holding it together.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer for the upcoming season, cleverly tricking viewers into thinking it was a dramatic sneak peek at a serious new drama. With intense editing and a tense soundtrack, the trailer built an ominous mood—until Stan’s dad, Randy, and his sister, Shelley, appeared on screen. Randy asks if she’s been taking drugs, then adds, “Because I think it could really help you,” as the two sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.

Right after that comedic moment, the visuals snap back into high-stakes action, hinting at major—and timely—events this season. Expect multiple major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy cameo, and some kind of conflict with Canada. If you've been a longtime fan or caught the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, that last plot point shouldn’t come as a surprise.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central—over two years after Season 26 wrapped up. Since then, the show has released three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), plus 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first hit Comedy Central in 1997 to almost instant acclaim.
