Author: Samuel Apr 27,2025

If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, get ready for an exciting new addition to your gaming experience. The developers have introduced a captivating minigame called Demon’s Hand, available in the client until the end of April. If you've ever played *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay mechanics familiar, as Demon’s Hand borrows similar card game concepts.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into this thrilling card game, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will launch you into an immersive story introduction, followed by your first round of the card game.

Your hand is displayed at the bottom of the screen, with your health, coins, and percent crit chance in the bottom right corner. Above that, you'll find your Sigil box, which can hold up to six active Sigils, though you start with none. Remember, your health won’t be restored after each battle; instead, visit tent locations on the map to recover a percentage of your health.

The enemy card appears at the top of the screen, with its health and damage values shown in the bottom right and left corners, respectively. To the left of the enemy card, you'll see an attack coin indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book that lists all the hands you can play, along with their base damage in a standard round.

To inflict damage, you'll need to play poker hands, each with a unique name in Demon’s Hand but following traditional poker rules. The ultimate goal is to achieve The Demon’s Hand, a royal flush. Here’s a list of the hands you can play, along with their poker equivalents and base damage:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

In addition to the base damage, the numerical value of each card contributes to the total damage. Be aware that if the enemy has a special ability negating a specific suit, those cards will be crossed out and won't add their numerical value to the base damage, though you can still play them.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils play a crucial role in enhancing your gameplay. You can purchase them during store phases, marked by coins on the map, which you earn by defeating enemies. Each Sigil has a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils boost the damage of specific hands, like Dyads, while others may grant additional turns between enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.

That's the rundown on how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, don't miss out on the upcoming April Fools skins, which promise exciting additions to your Summoner’s Rift experience.

League of Legends is available now on PC.
