The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy is set to deliver a significant visual and performance upgrade, featuring enhanced graphics, improved frame rates, faster loading times, and support for mouse controls.

As shown in a brand-new comparison teaser trailer, players who previously experienced loading screens when traveling between locations—such as entering or exiting Hogsmeade—will now enjoy seamless transitions with the Switch 2 edition. The upgraded hardware enables smoother movement across expansive environments without interruption.

Beyond improved load times, the new version enhances textures, shadow detail, and color saturation throughout Hogwarts and its surrounding areas, offering a more vivid and immersive experience. You can witness these improvements firsthand in the official trailer:

Regarding the inclusion of mouse controls, details remain limited at this time. While Warner Bros. has not yet elaborated on how they’ll be implemented, fans are speculating that mouse functionality could enhance precision during spellcasting or inventory management.

Similar to other titles on the original Switch, existing owners of Hogwarts Legacy will have the option to upgrade to the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 version for a $10 fee.

Hogwarts Legacy is a richly detailed, action-packed open-world RPG set in the Wizarding World of the 1800s. Players begin their journey as a fifth-year student, exploring both iconic and newly introduced locations, discovering magical creatures, brewing potions, mastering spells, leveling up talents, and customizing their character to become the witch or wizard they've always imagined.

The game launches alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5.

IGN awarded Hogwarts Legacy a 9/10 in our full review, stating: “In almost every way, Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter RPG we’ve always wanted to play.”
