Deadlock Unveils Six Experimental Heroes in Major Update

Valve’s groundbreaking MOBA shooter, Deadlock, made a powerful debut in mid-2024 and has maintained its place among Steam’s Most Wishlisted titles ever since. While weekly updates have kept the community engaged, the "10-24-2024" patch stands out as the most impactful update yet—bringing six brand-new heroes into the mix for players to test and master.

The newly revealed heroes—Calico, Fathom (previously known as Slork), Holliday (also referenced as Astro in some skill descriptions), Magician, Viper, and Wrecker—are currently available exclusively in the Hero Sandbox mode. They are not yet playable in casual or ranked PvP matches. While all hero kits have been implemented, certain abilities are still placeholder versions pulled from existing characters—for example, Magician’s ultimate is temporarily using Paradox’s Paradoxical Swap.

For an early look at how each character fits into the battlefield, refer to the table below for insights into their current roles and playstyles:

HeroDescription
CalicoAn agile and stealthy mid-to-frontline hero who excels at striking from the shadows, remaining unseen and uncatchable.
FathomA short-range burst assassin built for aggressive dive plays, specializing in quickly eliminating high-value targets.
HollidayA mid-to-long-range DPS/Assassin that dominates with precise headshots and explosive firepower, tearing enemies apart from a distance.
MagicianA tactical long-range damage dealer capable of bending projectiles, teleporting, and swapping positions with allies or foes.
ViperA mid-to-long-range burst assassin whose venom-coated bullets inflict damage over time before petrifying clusters of enemies.
WreckerA mid-to-close-range brawler who engages troopers and NPCs directly, dismantling them into scrap and repurposing it as tools for combat.
