Uncover the Secrets of Diablo 4's Forgotten Altars and Lost Powers

The Season of the Maelstrom introduces Witchcraft Powers in Diablo 4, reminiscent of magic systems in series like Harry Potter and The Witcher. Mastering these powers requires dedication, and a key component is locating the elusive Forgotten Altars. This guide details how to find them and the potent Lost Powers they bestow.

Unlocking Witchcraft's Potential

The Witchcraft skill tree offers three branches – Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay – each representing a unique magical discipline. To unlock these abilities, you must gain favor with The Coven by completing quests and accumulating Restless Rot. This progress unlocks Altar upgrades near the Tree of Whispers. However, the true power lies in discovering the Forgotten Altars.

The Challenge of Forgotten Altars

Unlike the standard Altars with fixed locations, Forgotten Altars appear randomly within Sanctuary's dungeons. This necessitates exploration and dungeon grinding. Fortunately, the Season's questline frequently sends players into dungeons, potentially minimizing extra effort. The reward, however, is well worth the hunt: Lost Powers, some of the game's most powerful abilities.

Finding all Forgotten Altars unlocks the following Lost Powers:

Name Power
Breath of the Coven Dealing damage or applying Crowd Control with any Witchcraft Effect increases Attack Speed by X for 10 seconds, stacking once per unique Witchcraft Effect (Eldritch, Psyche, Growth & Decay). At Rank 8: Gain 40% Lucky Hit chance with all three active.
Hex Specialization Increases the potency of Hex Effects by X. At Rank 10: Increases Critical Strike Chance by 10% against Hexed enemies.
Aura Specialization Increases the size of Aura Effects by X. At Rank 10: Increases Critical Strike Damage by 50% against enemies within Aura Effects.
Piranhado When an enemy is afflicted by both a Hex and an Aura, a Piranhado is summoned, pulling enemies in and dealing X Physical damage over 12 seconds (once every 20 seconds). At Rank 5: Piranhado actively seeks nearby enemies.

Remember, once unlocked, Witchcraft Powers can be upgraded in your inventory using Restless Rot. Complete quests diligently to maximize your Rot accumulation.
