Choosing Your Path in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Like its predecessors, Dynasty Warriors: Origins plunges you into the heart of ancient China's warfare, allowing you to fight alongside various warlords. However, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains faction selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Early Game Neutrality
The initial chapters of Dynasty Warriors: Origins feature the Wanderer, your character, operating independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in pivotal events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate, without committing to a specific faction.
The Point of No Return: Chapter 3
Chapter 3 marks a turning point. You'll be prompted to choose a faction before its conclusion. While you'll likely have a preference by then, the game provides additional battles to solidify your decision.
Completing Faction Missions
Progress requires completing a specific number of missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Upon completion, a new mission will unlock, forcing you to choose an allegiance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. However, you retain the flexibility to complete all faction missions before making your final choice.
Irreversible Commitment
Your decision is permanent. Once you choose a faction, the others become inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You'll lose access to side quests from the unchosen factions, hindering your ability to strengthen bonds and potentially impacting difficulty. Faction choice influences the availability of side quests and skill point acquisition opportunities.
