Mastering Weapon and Armor Upgrades in Avowed: A Comprehensive Guide

Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly challenging enemies. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your gear is crucial. This guide details how to enhance weapons and armor within the game.

Upgrade Locations:

Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above). These are located at Party Camps, established near Adra Waystones scattered throughout the world. Setting up a Party Camp at an Adra Waystone marks it on your map with a tent icon, enabling fast travel. Upgrades require specific materials, readily found, crafted, or obtained through gameplay. Advancing a weapon's Quality level requires increasingly rare Adra.

Understanding Weapon and Armor Levels:

Gear power is determined by two factors: Quality and additional upgrade tiers.

• Quality: Represented by a numerical value, color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and an adjective. This directly correlates to enemy levels in the Living Lands. Lower Quality gear is ineffective against higher-level foes. Matching or exceeding enemy Quality is vital for optimal combat performance.

• Additional Upgrades: Within each Quality level (+0 to +3), further enhancements are possible. While less impactful than Quality increases, these still boost stats. Completing all three additional levels is required before upgrading Quality.

Prioritizing Upgrades:

Avowed features standard and Unique weapons and armor.

• Standard Gear: Commonly found as loot or purchased from merchants. These can only reach Superb Quality. Use these as temporary replacements and sell or dismantle them for resources to upgrade Unique gear.

• Unique Gear: Named items acquired through quests or boss encounters. These possess unique bonuses and can reach Legendary Quality. Prioritize upgrading Unique gear, reserving resources for these superior items.

In short, focus your upgrade efforts on Unique weapons and armor for maximum combat advantage. Standard gear serves as a stepping stone towards acquiring and enhancing higher-quality items.
