Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Closure Announcement

Nintendo's popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is officially ending its online services. The announcement came as a surprise to many players, prompting questions about the game's future.

The online servers will be shut down on November 28th, 2024, marking the end of an era for the cozy campsite simulator. This coincides with the game's seventh anniversary, falling just a few days before the official end-of-service (EOS) date. Auto-renewal for the Pocket Camp Club membership will cease on October 28th, with no refunds for existing memberships after that date. However, a commemorative badge will be awarded. Players have until November 26th to acquire Leaf Tickets. The final online farewell will occur on November 28th at 7:00 AM PST.

Despite the closure of online services, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be removed, the core gameplay will remain. Players will retain their saved data and enjoy continued offline play. More details on this paid offline version are expected around October 2024.

This shutdown follows a trend of Nintendo phasing out several mobile games, including Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost, and placing Mario Kart Tour in maintenance mode. While unexpected for some, the closure of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is part of a larger shift in Nintendo's mobile gaming strategy. Players can download the game from the Google Play Store to enjoy the remaining time. Stay tuned for our upcoming article on Netflix's Monument Valley 3.
