Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces bosses, gradually teaching players to master the game's mechanics. While not overly long, it offers a satisfying number of challenging encounters. Early on, you might need some tips, but by the time you face Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, you should have a solid grasp of combat and abilities.

How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)

After defeating Guilen, The Fire Eater, you'll progress through the Zone of Lava to face Gyalva. The key to victory is strategic positioning: fight from one of the bridge's ends.

This fight severely limits movement; the bridge platforms constantly shift due to Gyalva's attacks. Your strategy involves repeatedly jumping to attack Gyalva and using wind magic to maximize damage output in short bursts. The Ys franchise is renowned for its satisfying boss battles, and Gyalva is no exception.

Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

While a remake of Ys 3, Gyalva is a new addition to the story. This boss boasts a diverse attack set. The fight itself is straightforward, but Gyalva can inflict significant damage quickly. Gyalva will fly across the bridge, often launching sections into the air with fiery attacks.

Consider upgrading Adol before this encounter. Aim for level 21; defeating regular enemies along the way will help you reach this level without excessive grinding.

Spinning Attacks

Gyalva employs two spinning attacks. The first targets a section of the bridge, sending affected platforms airborne. The second covers the entire bridge, causing widespread disruption. Both can severely damage an under-leveled player.

To avoid the first, move to either side of the affected area. For the second, the only safe spot is on either bridge ledge. Stay close to one side to ensure a quick escape to the edge. Avoid the very end of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, attack Gyalva and retreat to the nearest ledge.

Fire Blast

Gyalva unleashes fireballs onto the bridge, launching platforms upward. This attack causes damage but also creates an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball passing between them. These bursts cause damage. The timing is unpredictable, but once a burst ends, the area becomes safe to traverse.
