Squad Busters is eliminating its Win Streak system, a significant change impacting gameplay and rewards. This decision, effective December 16th, aims to alleviate player pressure and frustration associated with maintaining lengthy win streaks.
Why the Change?
The developers explain that the Win Streak system, while initially intended to celebrate player skill, instead created undue stress and negativity for many players. The competitive pressure outweighed the positive aspects of the reward system.
What's Happening?
- Win Streaks End: The Win Streak feature will be removed on December 16th.
- Legacy Achievement: Your highest achieved win streak will remain on your profile as a record.
- Milestone Emotes: Players who reach specific win streak milestones (0-9, 10, 25, 50, and 100) before December 16th will receive exclusive emotes as compensation.
- No Refunds: Coins spent on boosting win streaks will not be refunded to maintain game balance between free-to-play and paying players.
Player Reaction:
The community's response is mixed. Some welcome the reduced emphasis on pay-to-win mechanics, while others are less enthusiastic about the removal and the perceived inadequacy of the compensation.
Cyber Squad Season:
Concurrent with this change, Squad Busters launches its new Cyber Squad season, featuring numerous rewards and a free Solarpunk Heavy Skin.
