How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
In Hollow Era, you begin your journey as a Soul Spirit. To become a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you need to accept the first quest from the NPC named Hurt Shinigami, who is seeking help. Once you commit to this path, there's no turning back to the Hollow route—unless you later choose to become a Visored. For those interested in the Hollow path, please refer to our separate guide on Hollow progression.

During the initial phase, you must act quickly to choose your path. If you wish to become a Hollow, you simply break your chain. However, if you choose to be a Shinigami, your chain will slowly start to break regardless of your actions. Every two minutes, a section of the chain breaks, and if it fully breaks, you'll automatically become a Hollow. In such a case, refer to our resurrection moves lists for guidance on Hollow endgame strategies.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your initial task as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, as Shinigamis are tasked with maintaining the balance between life and death. Following this, you can pick up another quest from an NPC near Hurt Shinigami, which involves delivering a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.

These early quests are excellent opportunities to familiarize yourself with your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power at a Urakara shop. If you can afford it, using the bus stop for $200 as a teleport/fast travel option is recommended due to the game's expansive map. Alternatively, you can invest 149 Robux in the infinite fast travel option from the Robux Shop.

Subsequent quests are marked with a red crosshair and include tasks such as defeating Hollows and Corrupted Shinigamis, among others. You'll need to reach level 15 to progress further. Quests fall into categories like repeatable, progression, and those linked to specific paths like Vizard and Airwalk.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, strategic skill point allocation is essential. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers numerous powerful abilities known as Kido, exclusive to Shinigami characters.
The Kido and Reiatsu Nodes are clear: Kido Nodes boost the damage of Kido skills, while Reiatsu Nodes increase your maximum Reiatsu output. Here's a list of Kido abilities with their descriptions:
- Caja Negacion: Projects a beam of lightning from your finger. When combined with Electric, it spreads electricity from the target.
- Shakkaho: Generates a red energy ball in your hand, exploding upon impact. With Ragdoll, it can ragdoll opponents, and with Fire, it sets them ablaze.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to wrap around and pull enemies towards you.
- Prison of Light: Creates six light rods around the enemy, immobilizing them—a powerful tool against agile foes.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving ball of lightning that causes electric damage to nearby enemies and explodes on contact, ideal for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To obtain a Shikai in Hollow Era, you must reach level 15 and visit Urihiro to undertake the Shikai Training quest. The quest requires you to defeat Urahara Kisuke for 1,700 exp, after which you can harness Shikai powers.

Warning: Defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging without a fully optimized hero. If you're not ready, consider grinding up to level 25 or higher before attempting this.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random mighty ability. If you're unhappy with the ability, you can re-roll it at the Urahara Shop for a fee.
The game features a Rage Bar, which fills incrementally with damage taken or dealt. When full and pulsating, press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai. It deactivates when your Reiatsu reserves are depleted or when you release the Y key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level is determined by Mastery Points earned during gameplay. Each Shikai skill use grants one Mastery Point, and quick accumulation is crucial as your Rage Bar consumption depends on your Mastery Level. Higher Mastery Levels reduce the Rage spent during active Shikai use.
Each Mastery Level comes with unique aura effects and visual changes:
- Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Once you've chosen the Shinigami path, there's no direct way back to being a Hollow—except by becoming a Visored. This allows your Shinigami to break the barrier between Hollow and Shinigami, enabling you to switch between the two using your Hollow Mask.
To become a Visored, you must reach level 50 or higher and undertake the Vizard quest at the Vizard’s Warehouse. This quest aligns with the Bleach canon, where Vizards are Shinigami who've acquired Hollow powers.

To unlock the Visored progression, you'll need to obtain Hogyoku, an orb that can break the barriers between Hollow and Shinigami. Defeat the King of Hueco Mundo for a chance at Hogyoku, though the drop rate is only 1%. Once you have Hogyoku, you can pursue the Vizard fighting style.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain several perks. Mask Control reduces the risk of your Hollow taking over, while the Visored node extends the duration you can wear the mask, enhancing your damage output with your new Hollow powers.

Visored Abilities in Hollow Era
- Hollow Mask: Allows you to control your inner Hollow and wear the mask at will.
- Cero: Charges a beam of Reiatsu for significant damage.
- Final Cero: Pins the enemy and crushes them with a powerful Cero from above.
- Vasto Rage: Transforms you into the mightiest Hollow type temporarily, unleashing your full potential.
What About Hollow Era Bankai?
Currently, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. However, given the game's popularity, it's likely that Bankai will be introduced in future updates. There's no confirmed release date yet, so keep an eye out for updates.
