Pokémon TCG Pocket Adds Trading and New Expansion

Pokémon TCG Pocket is preparing for a thrilling wave of new features. The long-awaited trading functionality is finally arriving, alongside the Space-Time Smackdown expansion. Soon, you'll be able to exchange cards directly with friends within the app.

When Does Pokémon TCG Pocket Release Space-Time Smackdown and Trading?

The trading feature officially launches on January 29, 2025. The very next day, January 30, sees the release of the Space-Time Smackdown expansion. This update also refreshes your digital binder and display board with new covers featuring Dialga, Palkia, and Darkrai.

The trading feature has been highly anticipated. To initiate a trade, you'll need two new items: Trade Hourglasses and Trade Tokens. Trading will be available for cards of rarity levels 1 through 4, as well as ★1 rarity.

Initially, trading will be limited to cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island expansions. The developers have confirmed that more sets will become tradeable in future updates.

Meanwhile, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion focuses on the Sinnoh region. It introduces two new booster packs highlighting the Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia, complete with stunning new artwork.

You can also look forward to collecting the Steel- and Fighting-type powerhouse Lucario, alongside Sinnoh's beloved starter trio: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. For a full overview of the new content, watch the video below.
