As we get ever closer to the August launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the opening cinematic for this stealth adventure.
While there are a few slight variations, it will undoubtedly feel instantly recognizable to longtime fans of the original, starting with the newspapers appearing on screen and the iconic James Bond-inspired theme song, once again performed by the original vocalist Cynthia Harrell.
The trailer previews several key scenes from the game—though without giving away context—including Snake dramatically diving backward off a roaring waterfall and Snake the 'Snake Eater' doing just that by consuming a snake. A nice touch, for sure.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a top-to-bottom remake of Konami’s beloved 2004 espionage action title, originally released without the "Delta" in its name. Konami recently confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will arrive on August 28, and also announced the return of the beloved Snake vs. Monkey minigame. It will also retain the suggestive and sexual themes found in the original Metal Gear Solid 3—including the Peep Demo Theatre, as indicated by an age rating classification.
"Metal Gear Solid Delta feels more like a highly polished HD remaster than the fully reimagined remake it had the potential to be," noted IGN in our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, which examines Snake’s new first-person viewpoint. "It's certainly a visually stunning trip down memory lane, yet perhaps too loyal for its own good." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater earned an outstanding score of 9.6 from IGN.
