Quick Links

Yukiko's Castle is the first dungeon that players will explore in Persona 4 Golden. Spanning just seven floors, it serves as a gentle introduction to the game's mechanics and combat system, easing players into the experience.

While the initial floors might not be overly challenging, the later floors introduce a formidable foe—the Magical Magus. This enemy is the strongest you'll encounter randomly in the dungeon. Below, we delve into its affinities and strategies for defeating it efficiently.

The Magical Magus is equipped with skills that can deal significant damage if you're not prepared. It primarily focuses on fire-based attacks, making fire-resistance accessories crucial. These can be found in golden chests scattered throughout Yukiko's Castle and are also beneficial for the upcoming boss fight.

When you notice the Magical Magus charging up its magic, be sure to guard during the next turn. It often unleashes Agilao, a powerful tier-two fire spell that can knock out unprepared party members. Another threat is Hysterical Slap, which delivers double physical hits, though it's less damaging than Agilao. In this fight, it's advisable for the protagonist to utilize light skills, while Chie and Yosuke should focus on guarding to avoid being taken down.

Early-Game Persona With A Light Skill In Persona 4 Golden

The ideal early-game Persona with a light skill is Archangel, which naturally comes equipped with Hama. Archangel also learns Media at level 12, a valuable skill for the final boss fight. As a level 11 Persona, Archangel can be fused using:

  • Slime (Level 2)
  • Forneus (Level 6)

In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills are instant-kill variants. Hama, as an instant-kill attack, targets the enemy's weakness, almost always hitting and resulting in an instant kill. This makes the Magical Magus, despite its strength, one of the easiest enemies to defeat in the dungeon. Farming these enemies can be highly beneficial, provided you have items to restore your SP or are willing to enter the boss fight with reduced resources.
