James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman to the DC Universe (DCU), explicitly excluding Robert Pattinson. During a DC Studios presentation, they clarified that Pattinson's Batman remains exclusive to Matt Reeves' "The Batman Epic Crime Saga."
Gunn stated definitively, "It's certainly not the plan," regarding Pattinson's DCU crossover. Safran echoed this, emphasizing the necessity of introducing a new Batman: "And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold."
Earlier speculation arose from Reeves himself, who hinted at the possibility of Pattinson's Batman appearing in the broader DCU.

Reeves explained his focus on "The Epic Crime Saga," emphasizing the importance of developing his own storyline. He acknowledged the collaborative nature of their work with Gunn and Safran, stating that they are supportive of his vision for The Batman Part 2. While the script is still in progress, Safran expressed optimism about what they've read so far.
The Brave and the Bold is currently in active development, with Gunn and Safran actively shaping the script. The directorial involvement of Andy Muschietti remains uncertain, pending script completion and assessment of its suitability. Further announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold are promised soon.
The delayed release of The Batman Part 2 to October 1, 2027, raises questions about The Brave and the Bold's release window. Safran confirmed an October 2027 Batman film but offered no further specifics.
A brief, intentionally vague, Batman cameo in Creature Commandos Episode 6 confirmed his pre-existing presence and established recognition within the DCU, eliminating the need for an origin story. Gunn clarified that the initial design was more detailed than he desired at that stage.
This cameo, Gunn further explained, subtly indicates a future team-up between the DCU Batman and Superman. He expressed his long-standing admiration for Batman, highlighting his intention to deliver a compelling portrayal in the DCU.
